Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using any part of the PostNotes service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.

2. Description of Service

MFM is a secure, privacy-focused platform that allows users to compose personal legacy messages that are stored and only disclosed to designated recipients after a configurable confirmation process is completed. The service includes a web-based message editor, client-side encryption, a multi-agent confirmation workflow, optional physical card packages, and subscription-based storage.

3. Account Registration & Authentication

You may register using an email address and password, or via supported social login providers (such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook, or others) powered by Supabase. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your credentials confidential.
• All activity occurring under your account.
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access.

We may offer optional two-factor authentication, which we strongly recommend enabling.

4. Subscriptions & Payments

Paid plans are billed on a recurring subscription basis. All payment processing is handled by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card details on our servers.

• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• You may cancel at any time; access continues to the end of the current billing period.
• One-time purchases (physical card packages, add-ons) are non-refundable once fulfilled.
• Subscription payments stop automatically upon completion of the confirmation lifecycle (i.e., when your messages become publicly disclosed).
• Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice.

5. Free Tier

A free tier is available with limited storage and features. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the free tier with reasonable notice. Free-tier accounts that have been inactive for 24 consecutive months may be deleted after prior email notification.

6. Message Storage & Encryption

Messages are stored as static content bundles in cloud object storage. You may choose to encrypt your messages client-side before they are uploaded:

• Zero-knowledge mode: Encryption and decryption occur entirely in your browser. We have no ability to read the content of encrypted messages. If you lose your password, the content cannot be recovered.
• Unencrypted mode: Messages are stored in plaintext and are subject to automated content moderation.

You are responsible for safeguarding any encryption passwords. We accept no liability for content that becomes inaccessible due to lost passwords.

7. Confirmation Workflow & Message Disclosure

You designate one or more trusted confirmation agents who can initiate the disclosure process. Once the required number of agents trigger confirmation:

• You will be notified via email (and optional SMS) with a cancellation link.
• The default cancellation window is 24 hours (configurable from 1 to 72 hours).
• If you do not cancel within the window, your messages become publicly accessible via their permanent URLs.
• Once disclosed, messages remain accessible indefinitely, with a minimum guaranteed availability of two (2) years even in the event of company closure.
• You may optionally use a re-privatization link to reverse a disclosure.

You accept that the confirmation process is designed to operate automatically, and that failure to cancel within the designated window constitutes your consent to disclosure.

8. Physical Card Packages

Physical card packages (containing QR codes linked to your message URLs) are optional purchases. Cards are produced and dispatched by a third-party fulfillment provider. Delivery times and conditions are subject to that provider's terms. Once production begins, orders cannot be cancelled.

9. Image Uploads & Content Moderation

All images attached to unencrypted messages are automatically scanned by a third-party AI content moderation service for illegal or prohibited material. By uploading images, you consent to this scanning. Uploads containing illegal content will be rejected and reported to the appropriate authorities as required by law. Images within end-to-end-encrypted messages are not scanned.

10. Prohibited Use

You may not use MFM to:

• Store, transmit, or disclose illegal content of any kind.
• Harass, threaten, or harm any individual.
• Circumvent security or access controls.
• Impersonate any person or entity.
• Use the service for commercial bulk messaging or spam.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the platform.

Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account suspension and, where required, referral to law enforcement.

11. Third-Party Services

MFM relies on the following third-party service providers, each of which has its own terms and privacy policies:

• Supabase — authentication and session management.
• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
• An email and/or SMS notification provider — for confirmation workflow communications.
• A content moderation service — for image safety scanning.
• A cloud object storage provider — for message bundle storage.

We are not responsible for the practices, outages, or policy changes of these third parties.

12. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance where practicable. We are not liable for losses caused by outages, data loss, or service degradation.

13. Company Shutdown Procedure

In the event of company closure, we will provide at least six (6) months' notice where possible. All users will receive an export of their message bundles. Publicly disclosed messages will be mirrored for a minimum of two (2) years. Annual SD-card archives are prepared and can be distributed to users upon request.

14. Termination

You may delete your account at any time before the confirmation lifecycle completes. Upon deletion:

• All message content and personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
• Already-disclosed (public) messages will remain accessible as they are considered voluntarily published content.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice, depending on the severity of the violation.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MFM and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including but not limited to: loss of data, loss of access to messages, or failure of the confirmation workflow due to circumstances outside our control.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email and/or a notice on the platform at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights as a consumer under applicable local law.
